A couple days off…

Had a couple days off of work and with a nice south swell coming in headed to south county and hit Doheny for a couple days of surfing, hadn’t been there in years. Some nice long rights, good longboard waves.  Finished up the weekend at Bolsa Chica (both California State Parks).

Drug my daughter along on the 2nd day to Doheny. She studied for her SATs (and sun-bathed) while I surfed. Nerd. Ended the day at Taco Surf in Dana Point (pictured) with a Margarita and some awesome tacos. Doheny was having a Surf Festival over the weekend, I didn’t go, but I dug the poster (pictured). Bolsa (pictured) didn’t have quite as clean of conditions but was still nice (and close).

Water was warm throughout, so I left my wetsuit in the car and stuck with board shorts and a rash guard. Love not having to wear a wetsuit, unfortunately it does have some disadvantages (pictured) after 3 days, if you aren’t used to it.

3 reps every minute on the minute for 7 minutes at 60% of 1RM

Load: 105#

Note: Don’t have a 1RM for FS so I used my Thruster 1RM of 170#

WOD Part II - Run / Front Squat Couplet:

  • 400m Run
  • 15 Front Squats @ 115# (135# was Rx)

  • 3 Overhead Squats
  • 10 Knees-to-Elbows 

No racks. Squats must be consecutive.

Note: Have to say, seems pretty weak. I haven’t done OHS in a long time, concentrated on form. This is a lift I’ve never established a 1RM on but I had no problem power snatching 105.
